Tax Day Rally – Richmond Tea Party Speech
This is part of a speech I gave at the Richmond Tea Party’s “Tax Day Rally” on April 15th 2010.

Let me 1st say that I am “Proud to be an American” I’m proud of our First Amendment rights, a right that we should cherish while we still have it.
Which states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I am honored to be part of History today for our city, our commonwealth, country and even the world. Yes, make no mistake “The world is watching”.
I’ve been asked to speak on the fact that you and I have been “ENDOWED” with certain unalienable rights from GOD. America’s Founding Fathers believed that a widespread faith in God was the true source of America’s greatness.
| The American Declaration of Independence proclaims that our “unalienable Rights” as Americans come from God our “Creator,” NOT The U.S. Federal Government. Today’s failure of many Americans to understand this threatens our continued existence as a Free People.
Listen to the words penned by Thomas Jefferson in 1776 in our Declaration of Independence, “…We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Unalienable means non transferable. No Person can give them OR take them away. |
The Declaration of Independence says that government is, “to secure these rights, governments that are instituted among men.” It would seem that many in our government on many levels want us to think that your ‘rights’ are ordained by man, not God as they try to tell us what we need, when we need it and why!
The Declaration of Independence is the why of American government, the constitution is the how. Is our current administration adhering to the constitution?
God never said that government should be involved in every facet of our lives! Our education, our Banks, our Auto Industry, or now even Health care (1/6th of our total economy). And thank God for elected official like attorney general Ken Cuccinelli and other Attorney Generals that will stand up to such an unconstitutional law mandating that we have to BUY what they tell us to. And then hire some 17 thousand more IRS agents to enforce it? Our government is on the fringe of “not” insuring our rights but surely “limiting” them to what “they” deem necessary!
God had not created any special class or family of men who were entitled to rule over other men. I pose this question; “if government heath care is so fantastic, then let’s add a constitutional amendment that congress use the same health care plan that they are willing to impose on us!
The Declaration states that “all men are created equal, that they are “endowed” by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” In Jefferson’s original draft, the statement was made that man’s “unalienable” rights were “derived” rather “endowed”.
Congress changed the language, for a reason! Rights which were “derived” indicate a reliance on man’s reason, rather than the gift of God, or endowed.
Thomas Jefferson 1771 said; “God who gave us life gave us liberty!”
2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us that He is the giver of liberty. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
What are we doing for our country? Are we getting more and more involved in the election process or are we going to stand by while the government prints more money expecting future generations to pay for it?
The preamble to our constitution reads:

Please remember that we don’t work for them, THEY work for us WE THE PEOPLE. I have four words or Congress. “SEE YOU IN NOVEMBER” |
I implore you today to take your anger and your disappointment and turn that to a liberty that also encompasses the Spirit of the Lord. A Spirit that made our country great. A Spirit of lending a helping hand to others. Why is it that in today’s society, when someone is in need, one of the 1st thoughts to enter our God given brain is “I’m sure there’s a government agency to help you”
Not so long ago when there was a need, Family stepped in 1st and if that wasn’t sufficient then the Church was there to help. A church full of people waiting to put others before themselves, communities that looked out for each other. Is it our own fault that we are gravitating to the government for help before family, friends and our local church?
We in America now have over 40 million people on food stamps. That number is up 8 million in the last year.
More American have claimed bankruptcy than have claimed to have gone to college.
10 million Americans are now getting unemployment benefits.
Let me quote tonight’s keynote speaker Charles Payne. He said, “ You don’t restore confidence by giving someone a welfare check. We are creating a permanent underclass of people formerly proud workers dependant on the government.”
Is the government happy about this? You bet. Jobs were one of the last things that this current administration started working on. We need to stop this radical idea of being so dependant upon the government and instead depend on our enate gifts from God, gifts that include helping each other in time of need.
In my line of work with Christian radio I have the privilege of working with many non profits within our great Commonwealth and I see the determination to organize and help those in need. From pregnancy resource centers in Richmond & soon in Chesterfield, to rehabilitation centers like New life for youth & the ROC, local churches providing not just love & help but basic instruction on living life with conferences on money & marriage or going into a community and feeding the homeless.
If the Family fails so does this great country of ours. The family is the beginning place for society. If the family fails, so does society and with it our nation. And I fear for the failure of the family unit. It happened in Rome. They were not conquered by outside forces but by selfishness, decadence, greed and lust. We have a God given right to keep the family unit alive and well. To elect officials that will strengthen the family rather disassemble it.
And I challenge you to pray for our elected officials and for those future leaders that America so needs. And as you pray, I suggest to not just pray “God bless America”, but Pray “God help us to Bless You”.
